IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING SCHOOL CLOSING

March 13, 2020

Today we were notified by Governor Justice that all schools in West Virginia will be closed until further notice due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19).  Mountain View Christian School will follow this directive as well; however, instruction for the students will continue remotely, via texting, email, or packets sent home with the students.

It is very important that student instruction not be impeded, as we are so close to the ending of this school term.  Students are being directed to take home all textbooks, and they will receive instruction from their teachers on completing the assigned work.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THIS WORK WILL BE REQUIRED OF ALL STUDENTS, GRADED, AND AVERAGED FOR PROGRESS REPORTS AND/OR NINE WEEKS GRADES, ETC.

The school building will be open on Monday, March 16th, and all teachers will be available from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. in order for parents to pick up work for their children or answer any questions you may have.

A SEPARATE NOTICE IS BEING SENT TO THE SECONDARY STUDENTS ADVISING PARENTS AND STUDENTS HOW TO PROCEED.

After Monday, March 16, 2020, the school building will be closed to students.

SPECIAL NOTICE FROM MRS. PENNINGTON, ELEMENTARY COORDINATOR:

K-3 through 2nd Grade:  Worksheets and study guides sent home on Monday need to be completed as scheduled each day.

Grades 3rd through 6th – Books, worksheets, along with instructions for reading material to be completed as scheduled each day will be sent home Monday.

GRADES WILL BE TAKEN ON ALL WORK.  ALL WORK MUST BE COMPLETED.

While we regret that this action was required, we pray and trust that this will help to prevent this virus from becoming widespread in West Virginia and that it will help to curtail the spread across our nation.

THE ADMINISTRATION OF MOUNTAIN VIEW CHRISTIAN SCHOOL STRONGLY DISCOURAGES TRAVEL TO OTHER STATES/COUNTRIES DURING THIS TIME.  PLEASE CONSIDER THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF ALL OUR STUDENTS WHEN MAKING THESE DECISIONS.  THUS FAR OUR STATE HAS HAD NO CASES OF THE VIRUS, BUT WHEN TRAVELING TO OTHER STATES YOU MAY COME IN CONTACT WITH THOSE WHO ARE INFECTED.  IT IS SO IMPORTANT THAT WE DO WHAT WE CAN NOW TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF THIS VIRUS BY STAYING CLOSE TO HOME, PRACTICING GOOD HYGIENE, AND LIMITING CONTACT WITH LARGE GROUPS OF PEOPLE.

While we want to take all safety precautions, we pray for our students and families and rely on the words of Psalm 91.

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God, in Him will I trust.  Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler; and from the noisome pestilence.  He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shall thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.  Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day.  Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.  A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.  Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.  BECAUSE THOU HAST MADE THE LORD, WHICH IS MY REFUGE, EVEN THE MOST HIGH, THY HABITATION; THERE SHALL NO EVIL BEFALL THEE, NEITHER SHALL ANY PLAGUE COME NIGH THY DWELLING.  (Psalm 91:1-10)

May your families be safe and blessed as we implement these plans for the next few days/weeks.  We are uncertain when we will be able to return to school, but information will be available on our website at MVChristian.com, and we will be sending messages by our communication system.
