Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord. The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. Psalm 127:3-4

WELCOME BACK MOUNTAIN VIEW STUDENTS!

We hope you had a wonderful summer and are excited to get back to school! We are happy to see everyone, and we especially want to extend a warm welcome to our new students and parents who have joined our Mountain View family. We know you will find that Mountain View is a friendly place, as well as a great school!

On Monday, August 18, we began our 44th year of Christian education, and God has truly blessed our efforts. We praise Him for His many blessings!

NO SCHOOL – MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 1ST – LABOR DAY – Have a great day with your family!

A later fee of $5.00 will be added after the 15th, and $10.00 after the 20th. After tuition is one month past due, the student will not be allowed to attend class until the account is brought up to date.

HOPE SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION – The Hope Scholarship will be open to ALL SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN residing in West Virginia beginning with the 2026-2027 school year; therefore, students who have attended Mountain View Christian School who could not participate will be eligible for 2026-2027. CONGRATULATIONS to Mrs. Pennington’s First Grade class from last year and the Eighth Grade class from last year. They had the highest overall class score on the Terra Nova test for 2024-2025.

For this achievement, the now 2nd grade class and the 9th grade class has received a pizza party and no homework the first week of school.

The individual who scored the highest in Elementary was Blaire Riffe (now in 2nd grade). The individual who scored the highest in the Secondary was Kaiden Watson (now in 9th grade).

We are so very proud of these students!

MVCS T-SHIRT ORDER FORMS: T-shirt order forms are due by September 2nd. The cost is $12 for a t-shirt and $23 for a sweatshirt. If you need an order form, please contact your child’s teacher or the office.

MVCS HANDBOOKS – This would be a great time for you to review the Handbook. It will help you to be aware of our policies and refresh your memory concerning school information. If you are a new parent to our school this year and did not receive a handbook, please contact the school office.

VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Please remember that any time your child is absent, comes to school tardy, and/or leaves early; when they return to school they must bring a note stating the reason. The notes can be from a parent and/or guardian, and must be dated and signed so we can place in your child’s file. If they had a doctor’s appointment, etc., you can get an excuse from them so that can be placed in the file as well.

Remember that 5 unexcused tardies and/or 5 unexcused early dismissals equal one unexcused absence. Your child (PK-6th grades) can bring the note to Mrs. Calvert in the office or if your child is in 7th-12th grades, the notes can be given to Mrs. Elder in her office downstairs. Thank you for your attention concerning these matters.

EXTENDED CARE CHARGES – The first statement for extended care charges will be sent home the first few days of September. This will reflect the time your child spent in extended care for August. These charges will be due on September 10th.

Thank you for caring enough to provide a Christian education for your children. We realize this is a sacrifice for some families financially, but we know the benefits are far greater. Not only do your children receive excellent academic training, but also direction in building a successful Christian life. We are privileged to minister to your children at MVCS. We commit to you that every day, prayers are offered for your children. “Great shall be the peace of thy children.” Isaiah 54:13
